This international studio provides visual effects to the advertising, film, and entertainment industries. The studio engaged ACHA, in collaboration with McKay Architecture/Design, to develop the design of their production offices. Although located in the city, the offices are part of a network of studios working in specialized departments throughout the world. Differences in time zones effectively allow projects to be developed seamlessly 24-hours a day.

FX Studio / New York City

Communication is power. For our client this power is measured at both the global and local levels. Within the office it is essential that communication among the different teams was fluid. A closed office culture stifles creativity, specifically creativity that stems from shared and overlapping spaces within the office. These lines of fluid communication are formal and informal, as well as planned and accidental. To this end, ACHA designed large open spaces on each of the two floors, with open workstations, and a centralized stair that both serves to connect the floors, but also grand enough to encourage interaction and informal exchange. The stair continues up to a glass enclosed roof top conference room and outdoor screening theater.
