In the early twentieth century, Houston Street in Manhattan was widened to accommodate new subway lines. Buildings along both sides were demolished in the process, leaving narrow lots that have for many years been underdeveloped as parking lots and one-story shops. ACHA prepared a design to study the infill of these narrow urban properties. The proposal employs a prefabricated system developed by ACHA that reduces the amount of onsite construction. Units manufactured outside the city are delivered to the site and craned into place promptly and efficiently.
