ACHA was invited by the Whitney Museum to propose the exhibition design for The American Century. The proposal integrates audio-visual media with historic artworks and artifacts. The American Century was the subject of a yearlong, two-part exhibition at the Whitney Museum. The first covers the years 1900 to 1950, with each decade exhibited on one full floor of the museum. The design explores inventive ways to relate the different floors (and their time periods) to one another, reflecting the curatorial thesis that influences between decades is not necessarily sequential. Among the design proposals was an elevator equipped with a screen and dedicated to projecting films. The elevator would continuously move from floor to floor juxtaposing the period of the projected artwork with the works exhibited on each floor.
