The NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and AIA NY Chapter invited architects to design a prototype for small-scale, urban infill housing in NYC with the Big Ideas for Small Lots competition. ACHA’s scheme proposes spatially articulate layouts within the small and irregular footprints of various sites. In order to support the developers’ financial rationale, ACHA’s proposal incorporates one market-rate apartment among all apartments, each sharing the same quality of design and construction.
